AMAZING 6G

Amazing Large-Scale Trials and Pilots for Verticals in 6G

AMAZING-6G proposes 14 use cases in the fields of healthcare, public safety, energy, and transportation (including rail transport), which will be presented in large-scale, Europe-wide trials. Innovative technologies are expected to be developed and tested in the following areas: Communications, Compute-as-a-Service, Applications and AI, IoT and Location. In this context, the importance of large-scale trials in B5G/6G networks lies not only in their ability to validate the technical capabilities of the technology but also in their ability to unveil new use cases and applications that were previously unthinkable.

The project in Torino

The City will collaborate in the above-mentioned project, as an end-user, in the implementation of two specific use-cases:

1. Protection of Vulnerable Road Users, a use-case that, on the one hand, seeks to provide essential information to people with disabilities, such as the blind, in order to improve the safety of their urban travel in the smart city; on the other hand, it strives to design technical tools to enable developers to deploy applications using 5G networks, with a focus on minimizing energy consumption.

2. Enhancing Urban Security with UGV Active Monitoring. The main objective of this use case is to enhance urban security in specific critical areas (e.g., urban parks) using an Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV). This will be achieved by equipping the UGV with sensors and a 5G-enabled on-board unit on which security monitoring applications can be orchestrated.

Practical steps

As we approach a world in which the Internet of Things (IoT), augmented reality, and artificial intelligence play central roles in our daily lives, these trials offer a unique opportunity to explore the potential of B5G/6G networks in advancing innovative solutions in a variety of sectors, from healthcare and transportation to utilities and public/environmental safety. Through large-scale trials, stakeholders can gain valuable insights into the transformative power of B5G/6G networks and strategically position themselves to take advantage of the full spectrum of opportunities this cutting-edge technology offers.
