Social Ecosystems for Fair and Inclusive Transitions
The SEFIT project, funded in the framework of the European Social Fund Plus, promotes the development of social ecosystems for a fairer and more inclusive green and digital transition in the two involved Countries (Italy and Ireland), and all over Europe. The project partners, through mapping and analysis activities involving local actors and stakeholders, intend to identify the most pressing local challenges in terms of climate adaptation and digital innovation.
By means of an open call addressed to organisations and social innovators, the best solutions will be supported, both financially and operationally.
The project also aims to enhance the collaboration among public institutions and private actors in empowering the innovation ecosystem.

The project in Torino
The City of Torino and Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini, already involved in the creation of the National Competence Center for Social Innovation, want to face the local dimension of global challenges such as the green and digital transition. In particular, they are committed to ensure that the benefits offered by the great changes we are experiencing, can benefit those living in a more disadvantages socio-economic condition as well. Considering that many actions are already being promoted by local organisations and innovators, the aim is to let this ecosystem emerge and favor the development of further initiatives.
Through a specific call for grants and the support to the projects development and implementation, SEFIT intends to favor the local ecosystem of social innovation. Moreover, the project offers a space of dialogue and collaboration among the Public Administration, private actors and local communities for the co-design of shared and inclusive solutions.
Practical steps
The SEFIT partners are committed to support the local ecosystems of innovation though a call for grants deploying 400.000 €. The beneficiaries will be those organisations offering concrete solutions to the green and digital transition, especially by proving to make innovations more accessible to the most disadvantaged groups of population. Moreover, the partners will support the awarded organisations with an acceleration program to ensure a more effective project implementation. The call for grants is due to open at the beginning of 2024 and the start of the approved projects is expected in May 2024. The whole process is combined with workshops, participatory activities and policy labs aimed to let the needs of the target communities emerge, and enhance the already existing solutions.
